New Snowshoes Available for Rent at the Entrance Station!

Writer's picture: Los AmigosLos Amigos

This is the perfect time to enjoy the great winter snow at Valles Caldera National Preserve!

1. First check their website for when they are open. Yesterday and today the road is closed to allow them to clear the snow they have gotten this week!

2. Check out their Facebook page for the weekly snowpack report! Valles Caldera National Preserve

If you do not own snowshoes, stop by the Valle Grande Bookstore in the Entrance Station operated by Los Amigos de Valles Caldera. Our snowshoe inventory has been upgraded by adding new pairs of Yukon Charlie’s Snowshoes with their easy-to-use design with the Quik Clik binding and Rapid-Lite Flex heel strap.

Snowshoeing is an easy alternative to hiking and cross country skiing. Strap snowshoes on your boots and grab a couple of poles and, if you can hike, you can snowshoe. You will need a pair of snowshoes and waterproof boots. Poles are helpful for maintaining balance, but optional. Waterproof pants or gaiters help keep you warm and dry.

We hope you get out there and enjoy the beautiful mountains!
